Lili Michaud founded Occurrence, a contemporary art centre, in 1989. Since its origin, Occurrence has sought to reach a wide audience, presenting research and works drawn from the visual and media arts, with a special focus on photography.

Seeking and welcoming diverse theoretical perspectives and artistic approaches, Occurrence gathers together a committee of artists, art historians and authors to develop its annual program and to ensure the presentation of work by key emerging and established artists from here and abroad. Occurrence also initiates and coordinates national and international exhibition projects.

Integrated in Montreal’s De Gaspé arts complex since the spring of 2014, Occurrence offers artists an exhibition space, as well as equipment essential to development of their projects.
