Founded in 1993 by the artists of L’Oreille Coupée, Le Lobe is among the first and the few centres devoted to the dissemination of new works created in residence.
Known for its innovative, daring, hybrid and unclassifiable projects, this artist-run centre follows three principal lines of exploration: the dissemination of contemporary art created in residence, the promotion of event-based practices and the development of knowledge.
Located in Saguenay, Le Lobe offers an exceptional environment for exchange and creation via its partnership with Les Ateliers d’artistes TouTToutT (sixteen workshops supporting various disciplines).
The centre’s artist residencies promote concentration, allowing artists to spend time on research “in exile” outside their usual production framework and thus enabling them to develop and consolidate their particular projects. Over the years, Le Lobe has managed to preserve a refreshingly bold approach to contemporary art.
