Avatar is an artist-run centre located in Quebec City that has specialized since 1993 in research, creation, dissemination and distribution of audio and electronic art in Quebec, Canada and throughout the world. Avatar organizes projects that encourage exchanges, hosts guest artists, engages in reflection on media practices and stimulates collaborations among artists via local and international networks. Over the years, the centre has developed unique structures and expertise. Avatar is one of the few organizations in North America devoted to audio and electronic arts.

Avatar’s mandate is to raise the profile of audio and electronic art, promote artistic innovation, encourage initiatives, provide access to equipment and skills, bring together creators and facilitate the circulation of artworks and artists.
